The policies that guide Anav
Anav’s sustainability policies are an extension of our core values - Product, Planet and People. As an ethical business we are committed to live our values and policies in the way we run our business and deliver for you.
Ethical design
Our Product Policy
🌿 Natural Materials
At Anav, we were shocked to learn that only 9% of plastic gets recycled. The global overuse of plastic is poisoning our planet; this needs to change.
We stock ethical homewares made from natural materials. Metal, wood, cotton, pure silk, jute, grass and banana fibre are few examples of materials we use. We swap plastic fastenings for metal, wood and shell and use organic coatings over acrylic paint. We challenge our suppliers to adhere to our natural material policy.
We are serious about minimising Anav’s impact on the earth’s resources. Wherever possible, we use natural, recycled materials from sustainable sources.
✋ Handcrafted for You
We are passionate about sourcing handcrafted homewares made with skill and with love.
We work with artisans from marginalised communities, keeping their craft alive for generations to come. Our artisan handcrafted goods are truly unique. Every object holds a story about its maker.
With each purchase, you are supporting artists to thrive through ethical and equitable benefits.
👌🏾 Quality to Trust
Like you, we value quality over quantity. We condemn today's throw away culture and believe in sourcing sustainable homewares that are made to last.
Our products honour our natural material and eco-friendly values. We are careful to ensure that products are quality checked, from material selection to finishing touches.
As each product is handmade, they can have minor imperfections and rusticity, adding to the charm of the artisan deco style.
Reducing our impact
Our Planet Policy
Our planet policy is at the heart of Anav’s sustainable product policy. It influences our drive to work with natural materials and handmade products.
Handcrafted by artisans, on a small and bespoke scale, Anav's product creation process is environmentally friendly with low energy impacts.
However, beyond Anav’s core product making, we strive to minimise our environmental impact across shipping, packaging and delivery processes.
🚢 Shipping
As a business we are committed to supporting global, artisan communities and NGO support groups. Subsequently, our artisan home décor originates from remote areas, requiring it to be shipped to us.
Where possible, we are committed to reducing Anav’s carbon footprint and the impact of global sourcing.
We try to avoid carbon intensive air freighting, opting for sea freight and consolidated shipments.
📦 Packaging & Delivery
For the our last mile deliveries, from our UK warehouse to your home, we use recycled and eco-friendly packaging. As much as possible, we reuse the packaging it arrived in.
Anav’s goods are often made in rural, global locations. Despite our best efforts, eco-friendly packaging is not always available in these rural locations. Where practical, we encourage our suppliers to use eco-friendly alternatives such cardboard and old newspapers.
In addition, our products are shipped internationally which exposes them to harsh conditions. This may require additional, protective packaging to guarantee their safe passage.
However, we are committed to change this and working with our suppliers to achieve a more circular economy. We are constantly pushing for a balance between product security and environmental impacts.

🤝🏼 Our Supply Chain
We believe in an equitable society. Our founder, Pallavi, grew up in India where she witnessed the exploitation of artisan communities first hand.
Anav is committed to working with artisan collectives, social enterprises, charities, NGO’s and manufacturing start-ups. For example, we have collaborated with a charity supporting destitute women to manufacture cotton packaging supplies.
We exercise due diligence and supplier vetting to ensure alignment with our ethical and eco-friendly values. We believe in long-term relationship building, ensuring our suppliers and artisans receive a fair deal.
Every decision we make is guided by our principles. Here, in the UK, we source packaging supplies from an employee owned, responsible businesses.
🙌🏾🙌🏻 Our Core Team
As a sole employee, Pallavi takes enormous pride in delivering a personalised, bespoke service to you.
Pallavi's corporate experience flagged up the inequalities and challenges facing women and in particular mum returners at the workplace. This is one of the reasons that inspired her to start her own company.
Running Anav has unlocked the potential for her to balance her career and raising her family.
As the business grows, Pallavi would love to share this opportunity with other women too. We are passionate about building a diverse, equal opportunities culture and a thriving workplace.
